Questions and Answers
On 1000 mg. Valtrex for 1 yr. with no recurring herpes, previous life partner never got them, what about new 1 what to tell new lover...?

Queen Of Unique replied: "You have to tell the new lover. If she/he gets it and you guys break up and you never tell her or she doesn't show sypmtoms she could pass it on. Be responsible she'll trust you alot more for this. Imagine if someone had HIV and they didn't give it to their last partner and they decided not to tell you. It should be her choice on if she wants to risk it. Hope you chose to the responsible and moral thing."

Steve M replied: "So your previous life partner....has been replaced by a new life partner... However you define your lovers, you are obligated to let them know what's goin on...and what risk they may be in for.."

Lindsey replied: "u should tell them u have herpes preferably before u have sex."

Wulfie replied: "Teresa, Don't tell them. Hey, it is a risk we all have to accept in life. Why tell somebody that you have a disease? If they really love you, they would accept you either way."

Does Valtrex ever cause heart palpitations? I'm taking Valtrex for my eye problem that has persisted since I had facial shingles in July! 1000 mg. 2 times a day and it's been 14 days now. I have a 30 day supply. After 1 week I started having heart palpitations off and on during the day and even when I waken at night, it's very noticeable. I take medication for that (the doctor says it's common). It has been under control with the medication but since I've been on this Valtrex, it's been occurring often. Any thoughts? thanks. I did look up the side effects and didn't see that it was listed.

ilse72 replied: "While palpitations are not a listed side effect of Valtrex, that does not mean that the medication isn't affecting you that way. Remember, everyone is different so medications affect us all differently. On the other hand, the palpitations could increase or be more noticeable simply because you are under stress (from the illness and maybe whatever is also going on in your life). No matter what, the doctor should be notified of the change/increase in your palpitations. He will then make the decision whether or not to stop the Valtrex. It is always better to be safe so please notifiy your doctor to see if he is concerned by the change. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems from you shingles. I also had facial shingles a few years back that ran from my forehead straight down beside my right eye. I was lucky though...no eye issues from it...but I could not take Valtrex due to serious side effects. I hope you soon recover completely. Take care!"

low priced meds? a low priced way to obtain valtrex, 1000 mg

mompoo replied: "You might be able to call the company that makes it and tell them that you cannot afford it and it has been prescribed for you, they may give you a break."

Can you get herpes on your hands? I contracted Simplex 1 many many years ago while kissing a gal with a sore in her mouth. Years later I simply resorted to taking 500 Mg of Valtrex when I felt the sore trying to bust through my chin. I went three days without taking the medicine after I felt the usual headache that precedes the itch, my jaw swelled up almost the size of a grapefruit. When I did take the Valtrex, I took 1000 Mg a day for two days. My jaw subsided and I could feel the virus actually moving from my gland down my neck into my shoulder. It's been 3 years now, and everytime I feel my shoulder tingle I know I'm about to have an episode. Only in the past six months has the virus manifested itself to my finger tips; mainly my thumbs and index fingers. Yes, my thumbs start to itch. I then see yellowish fluid beneath the surface until it causes the outer skin to blister, break open and ooze until I can treat it with antibacterial cream, so as not to infect the open wound further.

lilwhizz replied: "You can have herpes whitlow. I've had HSV2 for 25+ years and also get funny bumps under the skin on my hands. I've had Dr's look at it and they didn't know what it was but I'm wondering if I've got it, too..."

minaberry48 replied: "From everything that I've read, it is possible to transmit herpes to your hands- its called whitlow. I've had herpes for 7 years and recently started experiencing itching, burning stinging on my hands/fingers. I haven't had any blisters manifest so I'm wondering if it is because I'm taking Valtrex, (or if this nuisance is actually caused by something else). I'm very stressed and trying to get a doctor's appt as we speak so I can find out what it is. Has anyone else experienced this? Would valtrex actually mask this new infection?"
